In this blog I will share about my experiences as a wardrobe stylish for a short movie called “Something about that record store”. I’ve been working on this project last term, and I created their style page.
The process of creating the style page is between 2 to 3 days, first I read the script of the movie to get the knowledge of the characters. There will be four main characters which are Ethan, Sally, Mister, and, Father. After finish reading the script I started to create the style page with some movie references to get the overall mood of the characters.

After that, I sent the style page to the movie director and waiting for their feedbacks. Not long after that the director give me some feedback for the character called “Ethan”, The director want the character to look like a sad boy but not too stylish. So I edited the style page again and send it to them.
Because this short movie has a limited budget, I need to make sure that the cast have all the clothes. So what I did is I send them the style page, and give them styling tips. I feel that working with artist is really fun, usually with style page they already
know what kind of clothes that they need to wear, and as a wardrobe stylish I need to make sure that I pay attention to the detail.
Okay, lets see how my style page look in the movie
Second is Sally, This character is suppose to be fun and colourful. But it turn out that we can’t provide the clothes that can represent that, so the team decided to improve and make her clothes look like grunge style.
Next is Mister and Father. Mister looks inspired by bohemian looks and his characteristic is unique and vintage. For Father his look inspired by old Indonesian movie called “Si Doel Anak Betawi”;
Overall, this project has been a new experiences for me, it give me a whole new perspective about fashion in the movie industry. Creating a style page based on the script is not easy, because you need to have a good imagination to understand the character in the movie and know how to make it alive through the fashion.
This project is super fun! Thank you for the Director Jojovansqa, *she is my housemate and my bestie* for asking me to join your final project!
In future this job is something that I want to do, because I love movie and fashion is passion.
I just feel that this is might the right combination.
