Hi guys, Unapologetic girl is back!!


Lately I’ve been into fashion sustainability, I also share on my blog about fashion revolution movement.


So now I want to share to you about the Traditional Weaving from Indonesia, Central Java


The process of creating this fabric is “Amanan Wareg” it means a flat yarn or a simple yarn. This technique only can be done by the traditional craftsman from Klaten, Central Java. The arrangement of the colour and the yarn are the main skills that the craft mans need to create a beautiful fabric.


Lurik or Lorek, is a Javanese language, means line. it is a symbol of simplicity. From the technique of the weaving to the meaning of each pattern. Lurik is one of the traditional pattern that only used by the nobles in Yogyakarta Kingdom. People who wear this fabric expected to achieve their goals and get a protection from Gods.



First the craftsman will put the yarn one by one to the machine,


then, the will start to weaving process,

Tuluh Watu : Tuluh means strong and the shiny stone, it used as a protection from the evil spirit. Only can be used by people who is strong and have a good attitude in life.


Tumbar Pecah: this pattern is used for pregnant women, with the hopes of the born of the baby will be easy, and the mom and the baby will be healthy.


Sapit Urang: means shrimp clams its the symbol of a war when the army are surrounded by the enemies. it used for army of the kingdom. ( Kraton Yogyakarta)
